A letter from our Founder
The idea of getting an education should never invoke a sense of hopelessness and or impossibility in any child, getting an education should never be a dream an,“I wonder what it would be like”,NO, instead it should be a certainty. This is what we are fighting for, to make it a certainty one child at a time.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerers...”
Kunda is a word from the Shona language meaning to conquer, to triumph, to be victorious or to win. I believe that many a times society judges your worth based on the “garment on your back” and as such treats you accordingly. With no fault of your own as a child you have found yourself clothed in a “garment of poverty”. Unfortunately, for those of us that are blind that is all we see, your poverty and hence, you are deemed to be worth less, you are discounted, you are always put at the back of the line, your voice is voiceless, you are not worth the investment, you are not worth fighting for, your dreams are just that dreams and at times you are even invisible. As a result, there continues to be a perpetual cycle of inequality. But what we fail to see is that behind that “garment of poverty” there is a seed potent with potential just like the rest of us.
So I choose to water and cultivate that potent seed. I choose to call out what is in you, you are triumphant, you are a victor, you are a winner. May you walk in this truth, pursue your dreams knowing that the garment you are clothed in just or unjust is not who you are, who you are is more than a conqueror!
